Review : Essential Light Finish Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner

Scalp is kinda a big issue for me because they can get irritated easily... my hair texture should be normal and they look kinda healthy (when I didn't bleach often - haven't dye my hair for more then a year now!!), but my scalp... they can be dry, oily and sensitive at the same time. I wanna say they get oily easily and make the crown area of my head(hair) look really really flat and greasy!

I like light, refreshing (especially balancing type) type of shampoo so that my hair don't get greasy easily. Keeping it fresh (hope not to use too much dry shampoo as they can clogged the pores easily)... so when I found out that Essential got these Deep Cleansing care and Light Finish Volumizing Shampoo and conditioner... I have to try them! (Will be reviewing the Light Finish Volumizing set in this post)

Just like facial skin, we have oily, dry and combination scalp issue. (Since scalp and face share the same piece of skin right... and body too! lolx.. but my body skin feels so much different as compare to my face skin!)

So for people with combination hair, they might use two shampoos to target the two problems – light, clarifying shampoos target oily roots but cause hair ends to be dry. Rich moisturizing shampoos target the dry ends but may be too rich for the scalp, resulting in build-up that makes the scalp oily.

Moreover depending on the thoroughness of scalp massage during shampooing,  the scalp build-up may not be thoroughly washed off, further causing the scalp to feel oily in a shorter time.

Essential Light Finish Volumizing (yellow) and Deep Cleansing Care (blue) variants brings the best of both worlds to you! With the optimum combination of Smart Cuticle Care & Sebum Cleansing Technology, you can now achieve moisturized hair ends while maintaining a refreshed breathable scalp!

Just showing you the Deep Cleansing Care Shampoo and Conditioner

  • The shampoo lather really well into the scalp(hair)... foam up well and easily to massage with finger(or the shampoo massage brush)...
  • Hair feel clean and my scalp feel quite nice after washing
  • Scalp feel nice and refreshing
  • But the oily control part was a bit weak - my scalp (hair near the scalp) start to feel oily the next morning.  But it work great for "today" hair... hair look quite normal and decent at the end of the day (if I wash my hair in the morning or afternoon)
  • Quite moisturizing... my hair tips doesn't feel dry and hair look shiny and hydrating thru-out the day.
  • Hair look smooth and soft
  • Hair does feel airy after my hair is dry (I air dry it... hardly use any hair dryer)

Essential Light Finish Volumizing Conditioner

The conditioner wasn't too heavy which is quite good for my normal and somewhat oily hair... it doesn't weight down my hair and I still get the airy - light volume hair that I want! (Don't apply around your scalp.. to avoid greasy scalp and clogged pores!)

For a limited time only, Essential is also giving out a massage shampoo brush with purchase of shampoo and conditioner.

A massage shampoo brush is a common haircare tool in Japan and is used by the majority of Japanese women to help remove dirt and sebum more effectively from the scalp. The massaging action on the scalp also helps improve blood circulation and promote relaxation. Now you can have a scalp massage without going to the salon!

My dad love using shampoo brush (I think he got his at the supermarker or mama shop, I donno.. but I always see one lying around in his bathroom)  look quite similar, but his look a bit more rough.

The brush feels really good on my scalp, I will lather the shampoo all over my scalp and then use the shampoo brush to lightly massage my scalp (the movement should NOT be too big because you don't want tangled hair!). The massage helps to aids in blood circulation and promotes relaxation.
