Review - Heroine Make Volume & Curl Super Waterproof Mascara

Mascara - one of the make-up item I can NOT live without and I have tried a lot and most of them FAIL me.... I ONLY trust waterproof mascaras and NOT all good waterproof and smudge proof mascaras can lift/curl up my stubborn Asian lashes! It is easy to find good volumizing waterproof and smudge proof mascara - BUT it is so HARD to find one that is light and dry enough to make curl stay up all day!

So far .... Heroine make, ZA, Majolica Majorca and Faiso have the best waterproof/smudge proof mascara that keep my lashes stay curl up all day (I have to curl my lashes with an eyelash curler first!)

I do enjoy using Lancome mascaras (they smudges a little bit on me, even the waterproof one... BUT they are sooo good at lengthening I closed ONE eye).

Anyway, when Heroine Make came back with a new formula, giving up to 40% more length and 24 hours of curl lock for the lashes.... I just cannot wait to try it out!!!!

So in this post, I will be "talking" about the Heroine Make Long & Curl Super Waterproof Mascara.

About the Heroine Make Volume & Curl Super Waterproof Mascara

The 2 ingredients help the curved brush lock in the curl for more than 24 hours:
  • Moment lock ingredient that ensures curls are strongly set the instant it was applied in the morning
  • Shape Memory Polymer that retains the curl throughout the day, with no drooping or wilting
Adding a super Guard Polymer that repels tears, perspiration, and water while preventing smudging.

Also features a new Full Catch Brush designed to hold plenty of product even within the bristles so it can apply the mascara on even hard-to-reach baby lashes.

Four ingredients are also in the formula to protect sensitive lashes from damage:
-camellia oil
-royal jelly extract
-argan oil
-rosehip oil.

Heroine Make mascara is voted the No.1 Mascara in Japan

Ingredients list

New packaing - I prefer this over the hot pink packaging.. more sleek I guess (lolx)

Loving the big fat brush applicator

When I swatch it at the back of my hand... the mascara wax feels a little bit light in texture
(not a thick as compare to the other brands "volumizing" mascaras)

Here's my somewhat "dusty"(from eyeshadow and setting powder) bare eyelashes~

After 2 light coats of mascara~
I curled my lashes before I apply the mascara
(the above bare lashes shot is taken before curling my lashes with an eyelash curler)

  • The mascara is a bit dry as compare to their previous version
(Not too wet - the previous verison - I only tried their lengthening version.. not the Volumizing one)
  • The mascara was pretty light weigh - when I applied the first coat - I don't see much "thickening" .. but it slowly building up (I quite like this part, cos I can build up slowly without clumping up the lashes and look like spider-legs)
  • The volume part is not as thick as I like... but it thicken the root softly - this mascara does spread out the lashes nicely to give a feathery spread out lashes(more of a wide-eye type of mascara).
  • As promised does hold up the curl well and make it thru our humid weather for hours...
(Lashes still look curled up from stepping out of the house and back - at least 5 hours)
  • Smudge and water proof
    (No panda eyes)
  • The mascara doesn't look "greyish" on the lashes...
  • Lengthening wise - I didn't see much on that field
(Well, this is not a lengthening mascara~ lolx)
Overall-
I find that this new version mascara was quite decent to use, not wet (I prefer drier mascara - for fast drying up time, less smudges error and easy to build up with more coats)

I enjoy that this mascara is very smudge/water proof, held up my stubborn lashes well...  I'm a fan for their Impact frame & curl mascara  (I realised that I didn't do a review on it.. hmm... I got the Impact frame & Curl mascara from Hongkong (thanks to ming)) and the only con was that it smudges on me "just a tiny bit" (where others doesn't have that problems... made me wonder whether I got a bad one instead! lolx) .

Maybe I have too high of a hope on this new Heroine Make Volume & Curl Super Waterproof Mascara - but I know that their lengthening & Curl mascara is their best seller (old or new versions) .... so I can't wait to try that out. (Review soon!)

Since this mascara is super water proof - it's NO way you can cleanse it off with water-based makeup remover or cleansing water.  I use KOSE cleansing oil and I need to use a lot of the oil to soak up the lashes and slowly masssage and breaking off the mascara. (Very oily point makeup remover - remove it way faster and easily~)

Just remember to use oil base makeup remover to remove this badboy~ to make life more simple (lolx)

Here's a side by side pic of the before and after

Note:
Please excuse the not so decent angles of my close up shots "the eye" - still getting use to a camera to take "self-shot" without a flip out screen (I didn't know I have been relying on the flip-out screen! Canon EOS M is really great for anything rather then taking a selfie... lolx... I need to learn! Maybe I should use a tripod and a hanging mirror instead of a handheld tiny mirror!)
