Review on Rachel K CC Renew

Rachel K recently launched her Renew version of her popular CC Cream - Rachel K CC Renew available in 3 shades (Very light, light and medium) and with a very sleek packaging.

Swatches of the 3 shades

When I swatched all 3 shades side by side, the "very light" shade look pale and quite peachy pink (which I like~ same color tone as the original CC Cream) - I believe "light" shade will look ok on my skin, but it just lack of the brightness I need. (I have some red undertone on my face, so the "pinkishness" of the "very light" shade CC cream make my complexion even and radiance)

Here's a lonely swatch of the "very light" shade

Here's my bare face after "skincare" (I only apply eyecream) and sunblock

The shade look quite perfect for my skintone (I'm quite fair)

Can see the instant "brightening" on my skin and complexion look quite even too

Before the CC cream set - can see abit of "pinkish" tone on my overall complexion

Here's my thoughts on how I feel about Rachel K CC Renew
  • The CC Cream feel light on the skin
  • Doesn't have the patchy and cakey finishing on "dry/sensitive/combination skin" that I always experiences.
The previous version does make my skin look dry and flakey but this renew version doesn't and feel quite nice on the skin. Hmmm... maybe because my skin was really dry and tight back then (I have some issue back then - almost alot of "suitable for all skin type" kinda made my skin look and feel worse!)
  • Does show abit of shine on my nose after a few hours of wearing
  • The cc cream does brighten up my skin and even out redness
  • Doesn't cause any breaking-out
  • No irritation
  • Doesn't clogging into the pores after afew hours of wearing the cc cream
  • Just like any foundation/bbcream this cc cream doesn't cover up deep/dark purplish post acne marks
  • The CC Cream spread out nicely and evenly all over the skin.
  • Skin look fresh and radiance
  • A semi matte finishing, but doesn't look too flat (a bit dewy)
I have been using this cc cream with different sunblock and primer.. BUT I love it the best when I pair it with Origins New Smarty Plants CC Cream (link) after sunblock before Rachel K CC cream renew.

I pair it with the Origins CC Cream because I didn't apply any moisturizer. When I do apply moisturizer, I will skip the origins cc cream. (I normally apply moisturizer after sunblock).

The Origins New Smarty Plants CC Cream doesn't have much coverage (has a glowy finishing), however it does even out a bit of uneven complexion and do a good job at providing the moisture to keep my skin from feeling dry and oily. I have less shiny nose when I pair Rachel K CC Cream Renew with Origins New Smarty Plants CC Cream.

I know it sound crazy to use 2 CC Creams, but to me.. I treat the Origins New Smarty Plants CC Cream more of a moisturizing primer then a "coverage" base product.

Overall- I find myself reaching for Rachel K CC Renew more often then I thought I will be, especially recently because I have ugly huge purplish spots on the side of my cheeks(yes both cheeks) which need high coverage foundation rather then "CC Cream or BB Cream".

I like that my complexion look quite even, that a little "spot" flaws doesn't bother me much  - well maybe not so much on those who look at my face when we talk (kekekeke... ) anyway, as long as I feel good... I actually don't mind what others think about my flaws (bleh~)

Super bright sunlight is my BFF - because I can look (almost)flawless on pictures!
